Introducing the New 5% AHA Serum Deodorant

Meet our new 5% AHA Serum Deodorant - the perfect solution for reducing body odor while improving the look and feel of underarm skin. Formulated with a multi-acid blend of mandelic, lactic, and polyhydroxy acids, this innovative deodorant works by helping to remove dead skin on the surface to fade visual discoloration and reduce ingrown hairs.

Chemical exfoliants like AHAs have long been used in skincare, and their large molecular weight makes them appropriate for even the most sensitive underarm skin. With these gentle AHAs and advanced conditioning ingredients that visibly calm and hydrate, our Serum Deodorant provides a modern, reliable and safe way to neutralize odor without compromising your body's natural sweat production or your skin’s natural acid barrier.

Baking soda and aluminum-free, our Serum Deodorant is the ultimate answer to smooth, healthy, odor-free underarms.

    What are AHAs in Deodorant?

Alpha Hydroxy Acids, or the recognized abbreviation AHAs, are a popular class of chemical exfoliating agents that offer a range of skin benefits from exfoliation, to fading surface discoloration, to helping soften the look of fine lines.

While one of the most common classification of acids, what sets them apart from Beta Hydroxy Acids and Polyhydroxy Acids, is that they are water soluble and target the top layer of skin. When used on the underarms, AHAs combat odor by making the area less hospitable to odor-causing bacteria.

Mandelic acid, a type of AHA, exfoliates, smooths, and eliminates odor-generating bacteria without compromising the skin's natural acid barrier, while lactic and polyhydroxy acids help fade visual discoloration and minimize ingrown hairs.

How Does the AHA Serum Deodorant Differ from the Skincare Deodorant?

Formulated without aluminum and baking soda, our Serum and Skincare Deodorants both rely on chemical acid exfoliants to help neutralize body odor. Unlike antiperspirants, acidifying deodorants work by reducing the pH of the skin, making it harder for odor-causing bacteria to break down sweat. This function works without blocking the body’s natural production of sweat.

Our Skincare and Serum Deodorants both incorporate nourishing botanicals and targeted skincare ingredients to help manage odor, hydrate, and improve the look of skin. However, the two products differ in the type of chemical exfoliants they utilize.

Our Skincare Deodorant features salicylic acid, the oil-soluble Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) that acidifies the skin upon contact with water or sweat. Our Serum Deodorant’s potent blend of Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) target dead skin cells on the surface layer without penetrating the deeper layers of skin, making it a great option for those with sensitive skin or anyone looking to avoid salicylic acid.

The Formula That Makes Saltair’s Serum Deodorant Unique:

Our 5% AHA Serum Deodorant contains a blend of mandelic, lactic, and polyhydroxy acids that acidify the skin to help neutralize odor, smooth, and exfoliate to reduce visual hyperpigmentation and ingrown hairs. Niacinamide brightens, soothes and supports the skin's barrier. Xylitol esters reduce skin adhesion of odor-causing bacteria.

    • Mandelic Acid - Alpha Hydroxy acid that combats odor and chemically exfoliates by breaking down the bonds between dead skin cells. Due to its larger molecule size, mandelic acid acts on the uppermost layers of the skin, reducing visual discoloration without compromising the skin’s natural acid barrier.
    • Lactic & Polyhydroxy - Additional chemical exfoliants belonging to the AHA family that help brighten and reduce ingrown hairs. In addition to combatting odor, lactic acid functions as a humectant, drawing moisture to the skin's surface for soft, smooth underarms.
    • Niacinamide - A water-soluble form of vitamin B3 that visually brightens, soothes, and fortifies the skin’s natural barrier.
    • Xylitol Esters - A natural ingredient derived from xylitol and fatty acids that combats odor while also contributing skin beneficial moisture to the underarm area.

How To Use Saltair’s Serum Deodorant:

AHA’s work best at acidifying the skin and increasing cell turnover when left on for several hours at a time, so consider your daily deodorant application an essential step in your body-care routine.

For best results, apply our clear, fast-drying formula to underarms as needed and allow 30-60 seconds for deodorant to dry. We do recommend patch testing prior to full use to ensure no individual reaction occurs.
